Hele Beach has regularly won a Seaside Award for its clean bathing water and good beach management. The sea is generally safe for family swimming at both high and low tide.

The beach is a mixture of sand, shingle and peeble, in varying amounts, depending upon the tides, and is sheltered by cliffs from the prevailing winds. When the tide is out you can explore the many rock pools for crabs, shrimps, shells and fish, or walk around Fishing Rock to secluded Blythe's Cove.
